Наш отчёт для украинского think tank Soild Info о положении аутичных людей в России и на влиянии авторитарного режима на права инвалидов.
(На английском языке)
One of the best ways to understand a society is to look at how this society treats the ones who fit less in this society, including their disabled and neurodivergent citizens. Before Nazi Germany began their genocidal campaign against Jewish and Roma, the Nazi government started the T4 program, targeting disabled people they saw as part of their nation.
In this report, we will look at how russia treated its Autistic population — which means at least 1% of all people who lived on the territories that are currently under Moscow’s control.
Ayman Eckford — the author of this report — was engaged in Autistic and pro-neurodiversity activism for 8 years. They created the first non-pathological, Autistic-friendly website, “Neurodiversity in russian”, and worked with human rights groups, and experts to help Autistic people.
In part one of this report, you will find out the following:
-what kind of problems Autistic people face in their everyday life;
-why is it so challenging to have any data about discrimination against Autistic people in russia;
-why and how Autism is misdiagnosed in russia;
-what kind of political myth made specialists believe that Autism, non-conformism, and schizophrenia are all the same;
-how some Autistic people appeared to be stuck in a psychoneurological asylum with their legal capacity taken away from them;
— what is going on inside russian asylum for disabled people;
— how russian doctors made parents abandon their disabled babies by using Social Darwinism rhetoric, and what happened with those babies after that.
